THE PROJECT

What is HYECON?

HYECON is short for “HYgienic and  Energy optimized CONveyor components for the Food and Beverage Industries”.

Who are the HYECON partners?

HYECON is a research and development project undertaken jointly by three European suppliers of conveyor components and solutions:

  • Ellegaard Components, Denmark,
  • LAT, Germany,
  • IWC, The Netherlands;

  • With the support of two research and development organisations:

  • TPU, Denmark,
  • DTI, Denmark;
  • And one “end-user”:

  • Danish Crown, Denmark;

  • The group have succeed in developing several innovative solutions to future challenges in processing and product handling focusing on the dilemma between increasing hygienic requirements and the need for the reduction of water and energy consumption.

    Which are the HYECON components?

  • ScanDrive IP69K drum motor
  • Undine® (Innovative water technology)
  • Quick-Release
  • HYECON Rollers
  • Dropbelt
  • The total HYECON conveyor solution meets all the requeriments of IP69K standard and is EHEDG approved.

    DROPBELT®

    What is DROPBELT®?

A concept for transport of material in a closed and protected environment: loading onto an open conveyor belt which then folds during transport to a drop shaped ”pouch”, encloses the application and transports it to the desired destination without contaminating neither the product nor the surrounding production facilities.

The Drop ® Belt conveyor is unique in the way that it has dynamic transport direction enabling it to run corners and descent as well as increase.

Which are the advantages of DROPBELT®?

  • Dynamic transport direction (changes direction)
  • Rotates both 90 ° and 180 °
  • No environmental impact on the application
  • No spillage during transport
  • Optimum utilization of the production area
  • Which applications has DROPBELT®?

Drop Belt® has endless possibilities not only limited to the food industry:

  • Replacing screw conveyors
  • Adding or refi lling during transportation
  • Hygienic and protected transportation
  • Gentle conveying of granules
  • SCANDRIVE® IP69K DRUM MOTOR

    What means IP69K?

IP Code is an international standard that specifies the degree of protection for electrical equipment (enclosure).

The standard expresses the equipment’s ability to resist the intrusion of solid objects and water/liquid during the production or cleaning.

German standard DIN 40050-9 extends the IEC 60529 rating system described above with an IP69K rating for high-pressure, high-temperature wash-down applications. Such enclosures must not only be dust tight and complete protection against contact (IP6X), but also able to withstand high-pressure and steam cleaning.

This is the first IP69K drum motor in the world.

How is built the ScanDrive® IP69K drum motor?

  • By the Permanent Magnet  principle
  • Built into a IP69K encapsulation with the highest degree of tightness (no leaking oil)
  • 100% Stainless Steel , ø 60 mm – ø 165 mm
  • High constant torque
  • Cold motor that does not heat the belt and environment surrounding
  • How is tested the ScanDrive® IP69K drum motor?

Products rated to IP69K must be able to withstand high-pressure and steam cleaning.

The test specifi es a spray nozzle that is fed with 80 °C water at 80–100 bar (~1160-1450) and a flow rate of 14–16 L/min.
The nozzle is held 100–150 mm from the tested device at angles of 0°, 30°, 60° and 90° for 30 seconds each.

The test device sits on a turntable that rotates once every 12 seconds (5 rpm).

    QUICK RELEASE

What is the Quick Release component?

The Hyecon Quick-Release device is designed for use in wet environments and increases effective cleaning by making belt release quick and easy thus giving excellent access to otherwise “hidden” conveyor parts on the inside of the belt and conveyor.

The Quick-Release also makes conveyor belt removal and replacement swift and problem free guaranteeing perfect belt tension every time.

The device is especially designed for cleaning with high pressure and comes with EHEDG certification.

Which are the advantages of the Quick Release?

The Quick-Release is therefore particular suitable for the food industry with focus on high food safety through high hygiene requirements, effective cleaning with minimum consumption of water, chemicals and manpower or in all types of industries where it is important to reduce production downtime during cleaning or belt replacement.

Which are the properties of Quick Release?

  • Stainless steel construction (1.4301/AISI 304)
  • Food approved elastomers
  • EHEDG certifi ed (only full Hyecon solution)
  • Easy disassembly and replacement of gaskets
  • Adjustment span: 0 - 50 mm
  • ROLLERS

What makes special the HYECON rollers?

Acting as supporters for the conveyor belt Hyecon rollers are long lasting with low noise (non-squeaking) bearings and are designed especially for the food industry with emphasis on high food safety through high hygiene requirements and effective cleaning.

The external bearing brackets is pressed down over pins secured to the carrier frame and can easily be replaced when worn. The rollers are ”clicked” into the bearing brackets and can easily and quickly be removed. Alternatively the conveyor frame can be made with bushings where rollers without shafts can be mounted.

The built-in bearing system makes the rollers extremely suitable for use in wet environments. The open external bearings are specially designed for effective cleaning and cleaning with high pressure.

Which are the properties of the HYECON rollers?

  • Casing in blue food grade PVC
  • End caps in food grade POM
  • Sealed hygienic design
  • Built-in fi xed shafts
  • External bearing brackets for ”click-on” roller mounting
  • Bearing brackets in food grade ”non-squeaking” material (UHMWPE)
  • Diameter: 50 mm
  • Available in lengths from 90 to 500 mm
  • Permissible load: up to 200 N
  • Meets IP69K standard
  • How are supplied the HYECON rollers?

The roller casing is extruded in food grade PVC and the roller has injection molded end caps and a fixed and hygienic sealed shaft.

The rollers are supplied in Ø50 and customer specific widths from 90 mm to 500 mm.
